{04.11.14} Work to Play with Fashion

On a daily basis we get questions like “What would you ladies put with this dress or top to make it fun but not over the top for work?” and the list goes on and on. So I decided to blog about what outfits you could put together for Work to Play. Clearly not everyone has the same career type so I have compiled a list of suggestions and ideas on what I think would be appropriate for different careers. *Please note that we are not singling out any careers, I am giving a few ideas. Each outfit that I have posted may apply to all careers. I am just giving a few examples.

{THE ORIGINAL}

Business/Office Attire:

In the office the normal attire is a business suit

Meaning:

-Black/Pin Stripe Pencil Skirt

-White Button Down

-Blazer to match, typically Black or to match the skirt

I had a few fun ideas:

You can pretty much put a blazer with just about anything, dressing your outfit up or down. Leather is still “IN” and you can wear it without looking like Catwoman. I think our C. Luce Rachel Dress looks fabulous with our Double Lapel Open Blazer. It looks very sophisticated and classy while also giving an edgy look. You can wear stockings with the dress if desired. It would look great with pointed toe pumps or our very own Sam Edelman Isabella Flats. This dress is also a great one if your going out with the girls after work or even a date, just take off that blazer and flaunt it girl!

If your tired of wearing the same ‘ole pencil skirt to work and you want to flair it up a bit, I think the Blair skirt from Page 6 is VERY cute and sassy paired with our Figure Eight Top. I picked Green to brighten it up and make the outfit stand out. If desired you can wear our Double Lapel Open Blazer and/or stockings with it as well.

Top: Figure Eight Top

Skirt: Blair Skirt

Bracelet: Round Stone Bracelet

Basic Cami: In store, Both Baxter and Rock Hill locations

If you like the pencil skirt but just want to switch the color scheme up you can try our Business Cazh Skirt that comes in a tan with a bold black stripe down both sides. I paired it with our Penny Polka Dot Top because who doesn’t like polka dots?! You can also wear a Blazer and/or stockings with it. I think this is a very cute and classy look for an interview.

I think pearls with polka dots gives a very preppy and classy look. The BIGGER the better!

Can you say HELLO SUMMER!? I picked some bright colors to stand out at work.

Are you a teacher? Working Summer school? Do you work for the local Newspaper? I assume it will get veryyyy HOT come this Summer so I picked The Stepford Dress that you do not necessarily need to wear a Blazer with. (Unless desired) It is very light weight and and comfortable. It is a patterned Blue that looks very classy with buttons from the waist up. You could dress it up or down with a clutch or a work briefcase.

I really like mixing colors together when putting an outfit together.

I think the bulkier the better and in this case I think a bulky necklace with this dress gives a nice compliment.

Are you a receptionist? Our Retro Dotty Dress has a Summery feel and appears very preppy. The loose bow and elastic band around the waist gives it a flowy and classic look. A pair of our BC Ruffle Wedges would look flattering or even our Sam Edelman Isabella Flats with its pointy toe.

If your an entrepreneur, an interior designer or even a stay at home mom and you want to look fabulous walking into your business or your home I picked out a few different outfits that looks casual, comfortable and very artsy.

Are you an interior designer? Do you own your own business and like to dress comfortable? Our Take The initiative Pants are loose fitting and fabulous looking if you have errands to run or wanting something you can dress up really quick. It comes in two colors, Tan or Black. You can dress it with a loose fitted top like our Back Me Up Top that also comes in Teal or a tighter top to show off your figure like our Basket Weave Top. I personally think solid colors would look the best for this type of pant so it doesn’t clash. If you have beautiful long legs you can wear flats with these but don’t recommend flats on shorter ladies only because the bagginess of the pants tends to give off the “frumpy” look and you want to elongate your beautiful legs no matter how tall you are. So I highly suggest wedges or a small comfortable heel. (If you wanted to make it look more “business” you could always add a pointed toe heel.) If your going for the artsy look this one is for you!

If you are able to wear shorts to your work and still be dressy, I suggest our Black Simply Scalloped Shorts. These shorts are so cute and comfy while looking dressy and sophisticated too. I paired it with our Floral Notions Top because you can tuck it in or leave it out and the color is just bright and stunning. You can add a long necklace or our Brushed Hoop Earrings along with wedges or flats that would complete your outfit and have you looking amazing.

Taking the kids to the Zoo or the Park? Okay so our Knot Sisters Oliver Overalls is one of my favorites here at Page 6. Since when did overalls ever become “Out of Style”?? NEVER! You can pair these overalls with just about any color top long or short sleeve. This is just one of those “YOUR PICK” looks. I however, paired it with our Basic Layering Top. (It comes in many colors) I think that strappy bold wedges look great with these overalls along with some stackable bracelets! You can never have too many accessories! This is a great, comfortable and artsy look as well. I think this is a great outfit if your a babysitter or stay at home mom, because seriously these overalls are just too cute to pass up.

Now back to the dresses…

If you have a date after work and don’t have time to change, the Charlestown Dress is one of my favorite looks because it already has so much going on that you don’t need to do much more except add a bright long necklace, stack some bracelets, put on a pair of your fabulous heels and GO! Our DV by Dolce Vita Tonya Wedge looks awesome without taking away from the rest of the outfit. You can wear this to an interview, work, and even a night out on the town!

Another dress that can stand alone is our BB Dakota Dexter Dress. The pattern and fit gives off such an elegant look without even trying. Grab a pair of our Seychelles “Make It Snappy” Wedge for the Summery casual look or a pair of Pointed Toe Pumps for the more Business and Bold look. You can also add a set of pearls or a bright colored necklace like our Squares and Triangles Necklace that comes in Red, Blue, or Brown. The choice is YOURS! I think you could also wear this to an interview or in the office for sure.

Like I said before these are just a few ideas that I had put together. It is a little hard categorizing careers when now a days there are so many different careers out there! With every career comes a different wardrobe, so in the meantime I hope that this gave you a few tips and tricks on how to piece Page 6 clothing together and have you looking fabulous at work every day!
